Term dates
South Australian term dates are set by the Department for Education and are published on their website.
Communication
Teachers at Ascot Park are committed to keeping in touch with parents and carers.
Assemblies
We hold a whole school assembly every second Wednesday, usually in even weeks, at 9:10am in the sport centre. Each class hosts an assembly two or three times a year. Every one includes the national anthem, an Acknowledgement of Country, class items, and our Play is the Way awards.
Parents and carers are very welcome — it is the easiest way to see what is happening in classes and around the school.
Newsletters
The school newsletter goes out on ClassDojo and on this website in weeks 1, 5 and 9 of every term. You can ask for it by email instead, and hard copies are available from the front office. Class newsletters and term overviews come home at the start of each term.
ClassDojo
ClassDojo is a free app and website we use to keep the school community informed: newsletters, news, photos, special events, and messaging that translates into more than 35 languages. You can also use it to contact your child's teacher about individual matters, including absences.
Your child's teacher will give you a code that looks something like "C123ABCD" to connect to the class.
- School story — newsletters and whole-school updates
- Class story — news and events for that class only
- Portfolios — set work and feedback for individual students
- Messages — direct conversations between parents and teachers
We ask that all parents and carers download ClassDojo and check it daily.
Messages work best when they are brief, informative and respectful. Anything needing real discussion is better face to face or on the phone at an agreed time. Teachers cannot check messages during the school day — their priority is the class in front of them — and they reply during term time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
If something is urgent, phone the front office on (08) 8276 3055.
More about ClassDojo for parents
facebook.com/AscotParkPS carries whole-school events and celebrations for the wider community.
The front office
Phone the office on (08) 8276 3055 to get an urgent message to your child — a change to pick-up arrangements, say — or to reach a member of the leadership team.
Please do not send the Principal or Deputy messages on ClassDojo. Use the office.
Raising a concern
Contact your child's teacher first. They usually hold the information that answers the question, whether it is about learning or wellbeing.
If you are not satisfied that your concern has been addressed, contact a member of the leadership team by email, or ring the front office and make a time to meet.
